Wisdom from our Summer Intern
Looking back at my time at Morphis, I do not think that I could have asked for a better experience. The skills and lessons that I have learned have immeasurable value, and something that I undoubtedly will carry with me for the rest of my life. I can confidently say that there was no better way I could have jumpstarted my professional career than through Morphis. On top of the new skills I’ve learned, I was able to make strong professional connections with co-workers and gained a deep insight into the operations of the currency and supply chain industry.
I initially started this internship online during COVID, to keep myself busy and have something I could use to help me in my future. I would never have expected my internship to go the way that it had.
Through this internship, I have learned countless skills that I can implement into my daily life. If you are in a marketing position, a lot of your responsibilities require you to be very punctual and you are expected to deliver high-quality work. There is a lot of pressure to execute everything to perfection. However, through the guidance of Mrs. Rahman, I was easily able to navigate my way through my tasks and quickly was able to situate myself in this new position. I thoroughly enjoyed doing the work I was assigned because I understood that this was not only going to give me beneficial work experience, but it could help me strengthen my technical skills and help solidify what I was planning to do for my career. From graphic design, to writing detailed descriptions for Morphis’s offered services, the tasks my position entailed required me to push myself harder after each completed assignment. Not only did I expand my technical skills, but I also was able to make long-lasting professional connections with co-workers.
When it was my first day in the office, I was taken aback by the kindness of all the employees and the warm welcome I received. Even though I had anticipated the (somewhat) friendly intern bullying, my interactions with everyone were the complete opposite. Mrs. Rahman would UberEats lunch for me every time I came in, which was a gesture that was not needed but spoke volumes about how much she prioritized making sure I felt comfortable at the office. While I was going through my walkthrough of the Morphis software I would be working on, I met Trent, who is one of the funniest people I’ve ever met. He is the type of person that could make any 9 to 5 job enjoyable, and make you laugh no matter how bad your sense of humor is. I also met Gabby, a super genuine and kind person who walked me through her day-to-day process of interacting with clients and how she managed all her tasks. And I met Jorge, who broke down all the details of Morphis’s software and the services they offered to customers to make sure that I was on board with everything going on at the company. Every interaction I’ve had at this office was far better than what I had anticipated, and I am extremely grateful to all the employees who made my experience at Morphis so enjoyable.
As for my plans in the future, I plan to go the pre-med route. Although some may not see the correlation between this internship and my planned major, I can confidently say that the new knowledge I have acquired here will undoubtedly help me in the future. This internship helped me gain insight into an industry that I had little knowledge of beforehand and helped me understand the banking system a lot more clearly. The professional connections I made with the employees at the office will last a long time,
and I am incredibly grateful for everything they have helped me with. I am grateful for the trust that was put in me to even receive this position in the first place, let alone work on tasks that required me to represent the company. And I am grateful to Mrs. Rahman who let me take this position on in the first place. Working with Morphis has been a pivotal period in my life where I started my professional working career, and I am excited to see what the future holds for me.
